Bruce HS junior running back Richard Freelon, expected to be one of Mississippi's best this coming…
Freelon Explodes on the Scene
Richard Freelon Profile The Trojans are off to a 6-1 start and the offensive weapon of choice is their explosive tailback. The humble Freelon is quick to give credit to those around him. "My line does a good job," said Richard. "I guess the main reason I can run so well is that I run hard and my line has really been blocking for me." The Trojans are 6-1 and are beginning to get some buzz as a bona fide contender in Mississippi's North 2A classification. "We need to keep practicing hard and we need to keep a good positive attitude," said Freelon. "We have to go out there every Friday night and play hard and focus on what's ahead of us." Freelon will look to keep the team focused this week as Bruce takes on one of their biggest rivals. "This week we have Water Valley," said Richard. "It's always a good rivalry game. I know they are going to come out and play hard." The talented running back's exploits have already begun attracting some college recruiters looking to gather some information. "I got a couple of things from Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech," said Freelon. "I went to camps at Ole Miss and Mississippi State this summer, so I know a little bit about them." Richard believes he has what college coaches are looking for in a player. "I just play hard," said Freelon. "I try to play hard every play. I think I am more of a combo back. I can run outside and I like running between the tackles. I am working on my footwork a little more. You can always be better, so I am always trying to do things the best way I can." Richard is expected to meet NCAA entrance requirements easily.
