Through
five games of action, Jordan had already passed for over 1, 600 yards and 20 TD's.
Then something bad happened.
"I broke my wrist, and that was it. My
season was over," added the very well spoken Jordan Jefferson. "Man,
I will never forget that day for as long as I live. It was the worst day of my
life."
Jefferson's wrist has more than healed, and it shows on the
field, as Destrehan was a perfect 5-0 entering Friday's contest. They currently
hold the top spot in the state rankings.
How has Jordan played?
"I
am a lot smarter. The game comes a lot easier to me. I understand the offense
a lot more. I have 1, 058 passing yards, 12 TD's, and 2 interceptions (through
five games of action)."
Which colleges are keeping in phone contact?
"The
main ones from the SEC are LSU, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. Miami
and Georgia Tech are also staying in weekly contact too."
Has Jefferson
developed a close relationship with any of the coaches who are recruiting him?
"Yea,
I really have. I am real close with Coaches Frank (Wilson) at Ole Miss, Hevsey
(at Florida), Miles (at LSU), and Saban (at Alabama). I talk to all of those guys
weekly, so we keep in contact with one another."
What stands out with
Florida?
"They are in the shot gun all day, and they throw the ball
a lot. I will basically look at the depth chart and see where I can play, but
Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, and Alabama are pretty good schools to choose from. They
are all SEC teams, and I just want to see where I can play the quickest and what
type of plays they run on offense."
What are Ole Miss' positives?
"Well,
I went to their Jr Day. They have been recruiting me real hard for a long time.
They were the first school to offer me. They watched my film from my junior season
and liked my style of play. Overall, they have a good young team. They play a
tough schedule so their wins and losses really do not reflect how good they are.
They are also starting to throw the ball a lot. Their QB is second in the SEC
in passing yardage. I want to go where I can sling it."
And Alabama?
"Their
offensive coordinator is a very good coach. They spread you out sometimes and
throw the ball a lot. They are a pretty good school too. Coach Saban and I have
build a pretty good relationship too."
What about LSU?
"Their
offensive coordinator gets you in the spread and throws the majority of the game.
They throw is 30 something times a game. They are a pretty good school, offensive
wise, too."
