It is hard to comprehend why college coaches are not beating a path to Moss Point to get a look at the talented Barkley.
"I haven't really talked to any schools yet," said Kevin. "I am getting letters from Florida, Grambling, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Florida State just started looking at me too."
Barkley moved out to receiver this season where he has flourished. Kevin has scored eight touchdowns and thrown for another. Looking back on his high school career, the big play threat wishes he would have made the transition earlier.
"It has been great," said Kevin. "I wish I had moved when I was in the 9th grade. I should have played receiver a long time ago. I had been playing quarterback since I was little, so I just stayed with it. I have found out now that wide receiver is where I am supposed to be."
The Moss Point offense provides Kevin will plenty of chances to make plays.
"I play quarterback sometimes, I play tight end sometimes and I have even played center before," said Barkley. "I love our offense. Me and Meco Brown and big targets, so it opens up things for other people. People are starting to key on me and when they key on me Meco has a big game. If they key on him, I have a big game. They can't stop both of us."
The talented wide-out believes that this year may be the year for the Moss Point Tigers.
"I think the main things we have to do is stay focused and work hard," said Barkley. "I think it's promised to us. We had a couple of bad seasons, so I think this year is our year. I think we are supposed to get it."
