"It
felt good to get rid of our losing streak," added James Brown. "We had
lost three in a row before that game. We are trying to come back from it. Right
now, we are 1-3 in District play, but we are 4-3 overall."
What caused
the losing streak?
"I hate to single out any one player, but when
our QB got hurt, things went South on us. We think we got things back in order,
but we will not know for sure until we play a tougher team."
How is
the '05 state weight lifting champ doing on the field?
"I am doing
pretty good. I am staying on my blocks a little longer. I am also performing better
on defense this year too."
Does James start both ways?
Yes,
I always have."
Brown has the luxury of playing with one of the top
'08 offensive line prospects in the state, Gabriel Jackson (OT/6' 5",
290).
"That is my work out buddy right there. We do everything together.
Playing with him brings my game up another another because we are always competing
against one another."
Has Brown had a chance to take in any college
games this fall?
"No sir. I have been trying to get in some local
games but I have not had a ride."
Does Brown still have a leader for
his services?
"Yea, Ole Miss is still on top."
Why Ole
Miss?
"I just feel comfortable with their coaches. I have gotten to
know all of them pretty good. They rotate the phone around when we talk. I like
that. My recruiting coach will call me one week, offensive line coach the next
(week), then I will get a call from their head coach and even their offensive
coordinator has called me a few times. It has given me a chance to really get
to know all of them, not just my recruiting coach like the other schools do. They
act like they need me the most. They always tell me that I am their number one
guy. They want make me feel wanted."
Who would Brown like to see step
up their recruitment?
"LSU. I have always liked LSU. I think they
got mad when I did not show up for their (football) camp this summer. I do not
know. It has not been the same since."
