SEATTLE - The re-rankings for the Northwest are out! And there wasn't too much movement at the top. U.S. Army All-American Kavario Middleton - from Lakes High School in Lakewood, Wash. - is still Scout.com's number-one player in the region.
Scout.com's Northwest Hot 100
Outside of the top-10, Prosser, Wash. WR
Cody Bruns
and three Hawaiians - Pac-Five's
Aaron Tipoti
, as well as Punahou's
Abe Markowitz
and
J.J. Autele
- were the biggest risers since the end of summer team camps.
Bruns parlayed an excellent camp circuit into four scholarship offers -
Washington
,
Washington State
,
Oregon State
and
Boise State
- while Tipoti, Markowitz and Autele were standout linemen at the Hawai'i Speed and Quickness camps held back at the end of July.
But the top spot is still held by Middleton - who Scout.com just re-ranked as a tight end. All of his five finalists - Washington,
Oregon
,
California
,
Arizona State
and
Miami
- are looking at Middleton as a difference-maker offensively, and Lakes Head Coach Dave Miller has compared his collegiate potential to that of another west coast, two-sport star - Cal's
Tony Gonzalez
.
Scout.com's No. 10 performer in the Northwest - Lakes WR
Jermaine Kearse
- was selected as a U.S. Army All-American, and will participate on the West team with Middleton.
Others who are making an appearance on this list for the first time this year include quite a few from the islands; Honolulu (
Hawaii
) Damien RB/ATH
Kama Bailey
and DB
Christian Vasconcellos
, Kahuku (Hawaii) RB Junior Mata'afa and Wailuku (Hawaii) Baldwin WR
Chase Nakamura
. It's no surprise Damien is producing prospects with lineman guru Brian Derby now in as the Monarchs' Head Coach.
