Lyle Cox, a 6-foot-0, 195-pound quarterback/athlete from Waynesville, Mo., is a prospect who continues to rack up plenty of recruiting interest. He has not yet reeled in his first division one scholarship offer, but he does have some options on the table.
“Truman State told me that I have an offer to play there,” Cox informed. “Missouri Southern, SEMO and Missouri State all said that I can play for them. Missouri State said they will look in to it more towards Thanksgiving, I am just hoping to get that opportunity to play for them.”
Cox is also receiving steady interest from D1 schools like Missouri, Kansas, and Arkansas.
“I have also been talking to Arkansas,” Cox began. “I am supposed to be going down there more towards the end of the season for a visit.”
“They have called me a couple of times. I have been talking to Coach Vaughan down there.”
“We went to go watch KU play Baylor,” Cox continued. “They seem pretty interested in me. They said that they are going to be talking scholarships more towards Thanksgiving as well. I have been talking to Coach (Ed) Warrinner on a weekly basis. He is a great guy.”
“I was also at the Missouri game when they played Nebraska. It was a great game and I had a great time.”
Cox plays exclusively as a quarterback in high school, but could play some defense on the next level.
“All of the big schools are basically looking at me for defense,” Cox said. “Schools like Missouri, KU, and Arkansas all say defense, but schools like Missouri State says that they are looking at me as a quarterback.”
