Jared Edwards is a Cyclone
"I have committed to Iowa State," Jared Edwards said from Arlington, Texas. "I thought about it all week. When I came back from my official visit I decided to go ahead and make my decision." "I called the coaches today and told them about my decision. I called coach [Jay] Boulware first. He said he was pumped up. He said they have been waiting on me since they offered. He said I made his day." "I talked to coach [Gene] Chizik as well. He was real excited and glad I chose them over anyone in the country." Edwards took an official visit to Ames this past weekend and gives his reasons for committing to the Cyclones. "The facilities were nice. I think I have a better chance to start after my redshirt season. I was there this past weekend, and I thought the campus was really nice. They have a great academic center, Edwards said. "I think the team in the future is going to be great. We have some guys from Texas coming in. The team is going to be re-built after this year. I believe coach Chizik is going to turn the program around." "I have a really good relationship with the coaches. We are all good buddies. I talked to them about everything. They have good coaches. I think coach Boulware is a great guy. He tells you what you want to know." The 6-foot-4, 240-pound lineman has the talent to play more than one position upon his arrival in Ames. "The coaches have actually talked to me about playing on both sides of the ball. They are probably going to put me at guard and at defensive end. I think I would prefer offense," Edwards said. "Right now I play left tackle and sometimes I go in as a defensive end. This season I have 18 tackles, four forced fumbles, one returned for a touchdown and three sacks." When asked of other official visits Edwards said, "I will have to wait and see if I take any other visits. I don't plan on going back to Iowa State until the spring since I have already taken my official visit." "I was hoping Texas Tech was going to offer. They did not seem interested. I was disappointed with that."
