Moorpark (Calif.) quarterback Adam Barry (6-2, 205) waited patiently while other SoCal quarterbacks were offered and made commitments.
But earlier this week, Barry finally got the good news that an offer was coming his way.
“Coach Wis (Ron Wisniewski) said they were looking at me with 3-4 other guys. He called me last week and said he wanted to let me know that I made it into the box with the guys who’s film they were looking at,” said Barry. “My mom got an email and they said they had shown the coach my tape and they were very impressed and he wanted me to call them. So I did and they offered me over the phone. I’m hoping to take an official visit out there in November,” said Barry.
For Barry, the offer was as much of a relief as anything.
“It was cool,” said Barry. “They were always talking about it for the last month or so and they had been talking about their situation. It was a huge relief for me to get the offer. I didn’t think the offers were coming so it was a big relief and it definitely was a good day.”
Barry has heard plenty of good things about Wyoming and the Cowboy program.
One of my good friends, Cory Elmore (who plays at Arizona), took a trip to Wyoming (during his recruitment) and he said he loved it. He said it was a cool place and I’ve definitely heard a lot of positives about it. They loved it up there. So its good hearing all of the feedback.”
Barry said that more schools have been keeping a close watch on him and have been requesting some of his film.
“Boise State said they wanted to get some film on me and Idaho State has been calling a lot and so has Montana. There is still a definite interest in Arizona. And we still talk to Nevada. They’re not sure they want to pick up a quarterback. They’re looking at another quarterback but they’re looking at him more as an athlete. For a quarterback, they said they’re looking at me.”
Barry said his plans for a visit to Wyoming could net a commitment if the trip goes well.
“I wont decide until after I take an official visit, but if I feel like Wyoming is a great place, I may commit,” said Barry.
The season has seen a few more losses than the Musketeers have been used to but they still have a shot at a CIF-Northern Division playoff spot.
“We’re in like sixth place but with like four other teams. If we win out, we have a shot and should make it to the playoffs, but we have a lot of work to do,” said Barry.
The Musketeers used to rely on the running game almost exclusively, but with personnel losses, Barry saw Moorpark instill the spread, which he’s taken a liking a to.
“The spread offense is finally nice to use it. We have balanced out the offense, but it’s a little more pass than run. It’s been fun,” said Barry.
Through seven games, Barry has thrown for 1,609 yards (surpassing his total from last year), and has thrown 10 touchdown passes. He’s rushed for three touchdowns as well.
Academically, he has a 3.3 GPA and scored a 1375 on the SAT.
