"I went on an unofficial visit
to Ole Miss on Saturday with my mother and father," added the 6' 3",
280 pound Jordan Free. "I got there a little early on Saturday and took a
tour of their indoor facility. I spoke with some of their coaches, and we went
and watched some film. Coach Orgeron came into the room and spoke to me. He said
he wanted to offer me a full athletic scholarship."
What did Jordan's
parents most like about Ole Miss?
"They thought the campus was nice.
This was all of our first trip to Ole Miss, so it was all new to us. They really
liked the academics of the school, and I like it because it is an SEC school and
one of the more prominent teams in college football."
Jordan was also
impressed with the facilities and coaches at Ole Miss.
"They are what
probably stood out the most to me. Their coaches are really nice, and I liked
their indoor complex and all of their facilities. They are top notch."
Who
else has offered Jordan?
"I have offers from Tulane, Southern Mississippi,
Ole Miss, and some smaller schools in Louisiana and Texas."
Has Free
had a chance to visit Tulane and Southern Mississippi?
"I have been
to Tulane to see them practice before, but I have never seen their campus, and
I went to a ball game of USM's earlier this fall.
What stands out about
USM?
"It is not too far from home, and their staff is really nice.
Their campus has been redone since the hurricane, and it looks really nice now.
I do not know. It kind of feels like home."
And Tulane?
"Like
I said, I have only been over there one time for a practice. That is all I know
to say about them. I am going to go over there next weekend to see what it is
all about."
Anymore schools heavily involved that have not offered
yet?
"LSU is still sending me a lot of letters, but that is about
it. ULL is also calling."
Any official visits set?
"No,
I will probably schedule them after my season is over."
How is Free's
season going?
"Great, we are 10- 0 and play Caldwell this Friday
in the first round of the playoffs. We are ranked #1 in State (Class 3A)."
What
are Jordan's strengths on the field?
"I feel I have good feet and
can move around the field pretty good. That is why I am being recruited as a center
by some of the schools. I am a good open field blocker."
What is Free
working on to improve his game?
"I need to stay on my blocks more
and finish people off."
How much experience does Jordan have at the
center position?
"Really, I have played offensive tackle most of my
life. During the Spring, I played center, but this fall they moved me back to
tackle and some guard. I guess I am quick enough to play either center or tackle.
But I need to work on my snapping ability because I have not done it as much."
