Leon Kinnard recently took two more unofficial game visits to Maryland and Virginia and came away thoroughly impressed with what he came across at both schools. The Baltimore, Md., native will continue to take game visits throughout this season and is getting ready for the Army All-American Combine coming up in a few months. | |||

Maryland and Virginia were the last two stops for Loyola Academy athlete Leon Kinnard and the 5-foot-9, 180-pound athlete said that both visits really caught his eye. At this point he has a visit planned to see Rutgers play in two weeks and says that most of his mail is coming from Boston College and Connecticut, but also let us know that Alabama recently joined the bunch as well. “I went to Maryland to see them play Virginia and got to meet Head Coach (Ralph) Friedgen while we were taking a tour of the facilities,” Kinnard explained. “He just shook my hand and said hello to me because he was off to get ready for the game, but it was nice to meet him, even briefly. During the tour they showed us where the players eat and study and then took us into the weight room which was really nice as it overlooks the field, giving you a great view. I also thought it was pretty cool that they had statistics and goals posted by position on the wall in there for people to monitor.” “The fans at the stadium were great and I really liked the atmosphere there,” Kinnard added. “I felt very comfortable on campus and could definitely see myself going to school there. There were a lot of kids from PG (Prince George’s) County there, so I knew a lot of them. Coach (Chris) Cosh came into the school a while back and talked to my head coach before grabbing film. He said that they are interested in me as a cornerback, slot receiver and return specialist.” “I watched Virginia play Wake Forest and it was a great game as Virginia one by one point,” Kinnard said. “I think they’ve won their past five games by like a point or two each time, but a win is a win in my book. I loved the visit and they had the best food I have had by far. The coolest thing was that they let us come onto the field during the last three minutes of the game and then took us into the locker room afterwards which was a first for me. With all of the media and the screaming players in there it was definitely a crazy experience.” Kinnard has led Loyola to a 7-1 record this year, passing for 1163 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 462 yards and seven scores. |
