Mesquite (Texas) signal caller Kelly Page committed to the Ducks back in August without ever making trip up to Eugene to check out the campus and surroundings. This past weekend he made his first visit up Oregon to see if he made the right decision and he gave Scout.com the details of how things went. | |||

Kelly Page “It was an amazing place and I loved it,” Page said. What was so amazing about his experience? “First, I met with coach (Mike) Belotti for about 30 or 45 minutes before the game and I thought that was pretty crazy,” explained Page. “The fans were crazy and as I was walking through the tunnel the fans were kind of cheering my name and I thought that was cool. The people around were so nice and it was really just an overall great experience.” Page (6-3, 205) said that he never had much doubt whether or not he made the right decision when he gave Belotti his pledge and this trip made him realize why. “I had a feeling when I spoke to coach Belotti and coach (Chip) Kelly (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach) because they were really nice guys and they knew what they were doing with their team,” said Page. “Coach Belotti has been at Oregon for 25 years and they have a real stable coaching staff plus coach Kelly is an offensive genius. Then when I went up there and talked to them it just reassured me of my decision.” The facilities at Oregon are some of the best out West but they were more than Page was expecting. “They were that and better,” he said. “I didn’t think the stadium would be that nice but it was amazing. Their brand new treatment facility that they just redone was something. I’ve never seen waterfalls in a treatment facility before. It was just a real cool experience and I really don’t have anything negative to say about Oregon at all.” With his visit behind him, Page will not focus on finishing his senior campaign off on a good note but he is also keeping a close eye on the ongoing debate over who is worthy of ending up in the BCS Championship. “Ohio State might lose to Michigan and then it could end up being LSU and Oregon,” he said. “LSU is a pretty great football team and so is Oregon but you can’t forget about Kansas because they’re playing pretty good too. It’s a crazy thing to try and figure out.”
