Placentia (Calif.) Valencia running back Wes Fletcher has ran for over 3,000 yards the past two seasons, despite missing six games because of ankle injuries, yet he’s still waiting for his first offer.
“I’m a little frustrated,” said Fletcher. “To be honest, there have just been a lot of bad circumstances for me, with the fire, getting injured. This hasn’t been my best year, but I’m still averaging almost 150 yards a game.
The 6-0, 215-pound three-star running back said one school has been staying in constant contact with him and he was told by the coaching staff an offer could be forthcoming.
“Boise State has been talking the most,” said Fletcher. “They had told me they may offer me soon. Pretty much I’ve been just waiting to send my senior film out but they’ve seeen what I can do.”
At the same time, a pair of Pac-10 schools, Oregon and Washington State, have been keeping tabs on him.
Fletcher said the schools recruiting him have been doing so strictly as a running back, and having stayed on offense for the last three years has given him a desire to play that side of the ball in college.
“I haven’t really played defense since my freshman year, so it would kind of be awkward to go to a defensive position,” said Fletcher.
Last year, Fletcher missed three games with a high ankle sprain to his right ankle. This year, an injury to the other ankle has caused him to miss three games again, but he said he’ll be ready for the playoffs.
“We’re 6-1-1 and getting ready for the playoffs and I’ll be back then,” said Fletcher.
Fletcher has ran for 978 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Tigers this season.
Academically, he has a 2.6 GPA and took the SAT last Saturday.
