Darius Tig Barksdale was selected to participate in the Army All-American game on January 5, 2008 at the Alamo Dome on NBC. "This is obviously an honor for our program and myself," added Darius Barksdale. "I remember being here last year at Chris Strong's (Army All-American) pep rally. I said to myself that I wanted to one day be up at the podium. Now I am. It feels great. I just thank God for giving me the skills, and I am thankful to be tutored by so many great coaches to bring out the best in me. And lastly, if it were not for my teammates, I would not be up here. We have a lot of Army All-Americans on this team. I am not the only one." The 6' 0", 200 pound athlete has been one of the country's best since his sophomore campaign when he led South Panola to a 15-0 record and a Class 5A State Championship. That season he led the Tigers with 86 tackles, 7 interceptions, 16 batted down passes, and 6 sacks. Barksdale has never lost a game in his high school career, as South Panola carries a nation's best 71 game winning streak. "Darius Barksdale is the best player in the state," stated head South Panola coach Lance Pogue. "Tig dominates just about every play, whether he is on offense or defense. He is equally as good on both sides of the ball. That takes a special player to be able to do that on our level. He is just playing on another level than everybody else." The Ole Miss commit has rushed for 1, 815 yards and 25 TD's for the season. South Panola will open the playoffs next Friday. 10th Grade - Watch Video 11th Grade - Watch Video 12th Grade - Watch Video |
