Seventh For Wood

Oxnard (Calif.) Santa Clara running back Cierre Wood (6-0, 195), continues to rack up the offers despite being 15 months away from signing a letter-of-intent.

Just days after Notre Dame gave him his sixth offer, Wood picked up a seventh, and his second from the SEC.

"Ole Miss offered Cierre a scholarship," said Santa Clara athletic director Mike Schabert. "They really liked his film." One of the top five prospects in the West in the class of 2009, the Ole Miss offer joins offers Wood has received from USC, Florida, Wake Forest, Nebraska and San Diego State and Notre Dame.

Wood has rushed for 1,470 yards on only 102 carries (14.41 ypc) and has scored 20 touchdowns. He also has five receptions for 175 yards and a score. Defensively, Wood has 37 tackles and three interceptions.

In a win over Bishop Diego last week, Wood rushed for a career best 377 yards and six touchdowns.
