Frank Pulls The Trigger
Elk Grove (Calif.) cornerback Kevin Frank has had a big weekend. On Saturday, Frank found out that his Elk Grove team earned the top seed in the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section D-I playoffs. Then on Sunday, Frank made his college decision. "I just committed to Boise State about 15 minutes ago (a little before 7 p.m. PST)," said Frank. "I called coach (Marcel) Yates and let him know I was going to commit. He was excited. I talked to Coach Pete (head coach Chris Peterson) too and told him." Frank said he knew that Boise was the place for him since he took his official visit. "After I took my trip, I wanted to commit, but me and my dad talked and he said to hold off because it was my first visit, but if it felt right, then to go ahead and commit," said Frank. "So I did. The coaches were the main part. I really got along well with them." The Bronco staff has been hitting Sacramento hard recruiting-wise the past few seasons, last year, signing a pair of Elk Grove natives in Brandyn Thompson and Zach Waller. Frank said that the Boise area felt a lot like his hometown. In addition, Frank said the pressure of making his decision was wearing on him, part of the reason he decided to end it. "It was putting a lot of pressure on me about where I was going to go and worrying about committing," said Frank. "So I was ready. I'm not going to take any other visits, I'm 100% a Bronco." With the decision out of the way, Frank said he can focus solely on the playoffs, where he hopes to lead Elk Grove to the SJS title. But in the highest division in the section, they'll have their work cut out for them. "We play Vintage (of Napa) first and we're ready for the playoffs," said Frank. "I want to go real far, this is my last season." Frank also found out this past week that he was invited to the Blitz 3 All-Star Game in December, one of the most prestigious games in Northern California.
