Last week in a press conference, teammates Covaughn Deboskie and Gerell Robinson from Chandler (AZ) Hamilton High School were selected to particpate in the prestigious US Army All America game.
Deboskie took the time to tell Scout.com his feelings about being selected to the game and his plans on potentially comitting on TV.
Scout.com: What were your first thoughts when you heard you had been nominated for the game?
Deboskie: "My first thought that went in my head was, this can't be real, my dream has finally came true."
What do you think of this honor?
"This honor is like winning a state championship, it's pretty much the same feeling, but this time you get to represent your team in a different game."
What did you go through to get named to the team?
"From being told I wasn't D-1 material, to getting scholarship offers. I went through so much adversity it's so hard to explain. From being laughed at because I had my mind set that I was going to make it to the All American game, to working out every day at Ikei performance to get phyiscally and mentally ready for the combines.
Finally, staying focused on the right path with the help of family members and my best friend Kurt Mangum for they were the ones that told me I would make it to the game and I had nothing to worry about."
Are you excited to prove your self against the best players in the country?
"Yes, I am very excited because now you get to show what you are really made of when it comes to the best."
How excited is everyone around you?
"Actually my family members are excited because they always believed in me, but others wonder why I even got nominated to go, but I believe that things happen for a reason and I worked too hard not to go."
Explain to us a little about what you go through, the training in the off-season etc, so others know what kind of work you put in to get this nomination.
"Ikei Performance is the place when it comes to getting the warrior out of you. With five day workouts and non stop competitiveness with NFL athletes, it gave me the oppurtunity to be mentally ready.
I also worked on my catching ability because I know at the next level colleges want a complete back. Definitely Ikei Performance helped me put my foot in the door as far as being phyiscally ready, and he definitely pushed me passed my limits on being a true football warrior.
Finally, competing at all the combines and showing my hard work and determination in being the best also helped in my opinion."
Are there any players you are looking forward to playing with or against?
"I am looking forward to playing with the best offensive line in the country. Also, everyone that made it for the west team."
The big question- many players commit on TV, is that your plan?
"Yes, that is my plan and hopefully by then I'll have my true decision!"
