Glenn Harbin, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound four-star defensive end has helped lead McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, Ala., to a perfect 11-0 record and a berth in the second round of the playoffs. Harbin has 42 tackles and six sacks.
"It's still neck and neck right now between Alabama and Florida," Harbin acknowledged. "I also like South Carolina. Coach Steve Spurrier is real energetic and he's a great coach. Those are my top three."
Harbin says he always followed Alabama and is impressed with what new coach Nick Saban has done there. "I think they are doing good," he said. "They've struggled at times, but they are still young and they'll be getting better and better. Coach Saban gets the team really fired up and is a great coach.
"They played LSU tough and it was a good game," said Scout.com's No. 29 defensive end. "They also looked great and probably should have won. They are close to being a great team.
"That's probably the main difference between Florida and Alabama right now," he said. "Florida is already a top team and they just won a national championship, while Alabama is kind of still rebuilding. But both coaches are pretty similar and really enthusiastic.
"Florida had a couple tough losses this year, but they'll be good next year. Tim Tebow (Gators quarterback) is doing great and he's young so they'll be competing for another national championship soon."
Harbin has not scheduled any official visits yet. "I just haven't had time," he said. "I'm hoping to take all five, but we'll see if I have time. I'd like to make a decision before the end of the year."
He reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 17 ACT.
