Shuford Is a Zip!

Farmington Hills Harrison RB Norman Shuford made his college choice this weekend. The shifty back had been busy taking visits this week, but it was one school who has always had a place with him and they won the derby for his services.

Norman Shuford, a 5'9, 170-lb tailback from Farmington Hills (MI) Harrison committed to Akron over the weekend.

Shuford had offers from Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan as well as interest from Michigan State, Central Michigan and Grand Valley State. In fact, Shuford had been to Allendale earlier in the week, but it was his official visit to Akron on Saturday that sealed the deal.

"GVSU was cool," Shuford reported, "but I went on my official to Akron and it was great. I had a really good time and I felt like I was at home, so I committed."

As is the case with most recruits, Shuford is excited about his new home, but maybe even more glad (initially at least) that the rigors of being a college recruit are done with.

"It feels like I got 10,000 pounds off my shoulders," he confessed, "now I can just focus on school and getting bigger and faster."
