Warren Central's Barnett Still Waiting
Steven Barnett has a giant bag of mail he keeps. Ask him to list off the names and he struggles to keep them all straight. "I have letters from everyone!" he explained, "West Virginia, Indiana, Ole Miss, Arizona, Oregon, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Tennesee." Despite the mounds of mail, the 6'2, 265-lb Barnett has yet to receive his first offer, but he says that should change soon. "I still haven't sent out my transcript," he reported, "but I will soon and my grades are all good. I also haven't sent out my senior film, because our head coach just resigned, but there are some teachers helping me with that." Barnett says the schools recruiting him the hardest are Iowa, West Virginia, Indiana and 1-AA Western Kentucky. Another effect of head coach Steve Tutsie's resignation is that it has been tough for Barnett to set up visits, but he plans to hit the road soon. "I'm going back to Iowa soon and I'd like to see West Virginia and Indiana. I'm hoping IU is going to start recruting me harder." The big lineman's interest in the Hoosiers stems greatly from his desire to stay in the area and close to his family. "I'm looking at location, I really want to stay in the midwest, stay close to home and also go to a winning school and one with my major. I want to study sports medicine and be a physical therapist."
