Holton, 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, made an early commitment to Florida State but that didn't stop other schools from recruiting him.
"I'm still committed (to FSU) but I'm also looking hard at Miami," he said. "I have my visits set up to both schools. I'm going to Miami on January 26th and Florida State is the weekend before that."
The talented safety had his first in-home visit on Monday night.
"Coach Pannunzio and McGriff came by today," he said. "They sat down with me and my mom and talked. It was a good meeting. Me and my mom talk to Coach Barrow all the time on the phone but it was good to sit down and talk to the guy who coaches the DB's since I'd be with him for four years if I went there."
Holton talked more about the details of that visit.
"My mom was asking a lot of questions about the school, the area, the discipline and stuff like that," he said. "She was playing a get to know you game with them. She was real excited about it."
Holton paid close attention to the season the Hurricanes had and he talked about their struggles.
"They talked about how they're bringing in a good class and that a lot of the players coming in will have a chance to play right away -- not just me but a lot of them," he said. "It was a new coaching staff there this year. They didn't have the players they've had before. 5-7 is a bad record but the only thing you can do now is bring in a good class and that's what they're doing."
Next up will be an in-home visit with Florida State tomorrow night.
"Coach Amato and Coach Andrews are coming," he said. "I'm still committed to them. I'll sit down with them tomorrow and talk about some things."
