The Alabama coaching staff will host their biggest recruiting weekend since they were hired in…
Chris Jackson Talks of Firing
"I really don't have much to say," Chris Jackson said. "Coach [Chan] Gailey was a great man. He was one of the main reasons I was going to [Georgia] Tech. I respected him. The reason I was going was because of the whole staff." "Coach Gailey did a great job with this recruiting class, and hopefully everyone will stick with their commitment. I don't think anyone will change their commitment. I have talked to everybody." "Everyone is upset because coach Gailey was the main reason they were going to Tech. They wouldn't have been offered if not for him." Jackson did not speak with any members of the Georgia Tech coaching staff, but did speak with the Yellow Jackets' Athletic Director. "The A.D., [Dan] Radakovich, called me today. He told me they had to do what they had to do. He told me they were going to get a coach in as fast as they could," Jackson said. "There have not been any schools calling me yet, but I am sure that will start tomorrow. Previously I told all the coaches I was set on going to Tech, and I was going to graduate early." "I guess since they have heard coach Gailey is gone they will start to come after me. I don't plan on going anywhere. I am going to stick with my commitment, and I will graduate in December." The 6-foot-2, 190-pound receiver helped lead his team to a 10-2 record. He recorded 1,440 yards and 23 touchdowns. "We lost our first game of the season to Dutchtown and in the second round of the play-offs to Albany-Westover. I felt like as a team we accomplished a lot for our school. We own the first region title in years. We set the bar high for years to come," Jackson said. "I hope when I get to Tech I can learn the offense quickly and play early. If not then it will be great to learn the offense and work with the quarterbacks. I really want to improve my speed. I know the college level is a lot faster."
