Steven Christian, the 6-foot, 175-pound two-star defensive back from Kennedy High School in Sacramento, Calif., finished his senior season with 91 tackles, two fumbles caused and one sack. He team went 2-8 for the year.
"I have good cover skills and footwork," Christian said. "I'm tall and can jump high. I can beat the receiver in the air and am also a hard hitter.
"I want to improve my speed and movement," he said. "I'd like to be more elusive, but I also want to get stronger and improve my endurance."
Christian says he has nine offers from schools such as Wyoming, San Diego State, TCU, Montana, Stanford and Villanova. "I'm still looking around and not deciding on anything yet," he said. "I won't make any decision until close to Signing Day."
He has already taken an official visit to Nevada on Sept. 29 and plans to visit Villanova in December. "Nevada told me that they would offer me, but I haven't gotten the letter yet," he said. "I really liked the campus and the overall environment. Also, it's not too far from here, so that's a plus."
Christian says he also likes Hawaii and Vanderbilt, though neither have offered yet. "They've been looking at me a lot," he said. "I think they would definitely be high on my list if they offered. They are both great teams. I like how laid back Hawaii is and Vanderbilt is in the SEC and plays against the best teams every week."
Although he insists that Stanford has offered him, he admits they haven't been recruiting him much. "I got an offer from them in the spring, but haven't heard from them since the summer," he said.
He reports a 3.8 core GPA and a 1590 SAT and 22 ACT.
