Salesianum lost a lot of talent in the offseason, including Penn State tight end Andrew Szczerba, so it was only natural that the reigning State Champions have some drop off, however they were recently knocked out of the Delaware playoffs by Middletown after a 7-5 season. Sal Viscount will now turn his attention to recruiting, where he recently picked up his first scholarship offer.
Last season, running back
Sal Viscount
rushed for an impressive 2200 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a touchdown and made 34 tackles and three interceptions from his cornerback position. He was named first team All-State at running back and was also the Offensive Player of the Year for the state of Delaware. Those were some of the reasons the 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete from Wilmington, Del., got early interest from schools like
Rutgers
,
Northwestern
and
Penn State
, but at this point those schools have shied away.
“I picked up my first offer from Towson recently,” Viscount said. “I will be taking an official visit there on December 1st, but I don’t know what position they are recruiting me at. I did take an unofficial visit there before and liked it a lot.”
“I will also be driving down to
Temple
for an unofficial visit in two weeks because they said they have one running back spot open and would like to sit down with me and talk about things,” Viscount explained. “I definitely like it in Philly and have relatives there, so I think it would be nice to go to school in the city. They did tell me that I was pretty high on their list at running back.”
As a senior, Viscount rushed for 2006 yards and 18 touchdowns. On defense, he made 58 tackles and intercepted four passes. He has also been talking to James Madison and Delaware.
