Tatum to Stick with Hogs?
When a coaching change happens it puts recruits who were committed to the school in a precarious situation, and this happens to be the case with Josh Tatum, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive lineman from Marbury High in Ala. Tatum made a commitment to play for Arkansas after he was blown away by the program and the coaching staff while visiting for their summer camp. After watching Tatum in camp offensive line coach Mike Markuson knew that the mammoth lineman was good enough to play in the SEC and an official offer was extended. Tatum did not take long to weigh his options and because of the special connection he felt with the coaching staff he decided to make a commitment to sign with the Razorbacks. Now that Houston Nutt has left Arkansas and taken a job with Ole Miss Tatum finds himself in a tough situation. He must decide to stick with Arkansas or turn to the comfort that coach Nutt and his staff will provide at Ole Miss. One thing is certain. Coach Markuson future coaching destination will play a huge role in where his future lies. "As of right now I am still committed to Arkansas," Tatum explained. "Caoch Markuson is actually supposed to be coming in to town next week and talk to me about when I may line up my official visit for Arkansas. I have not taken an official visit anywhere yet." "Arkansas is the only school that has offered and as of right now I am still committed. You can say that I will definitely be playing where coach Markuson is. I will be where coach Markuson is." Nothing has been made public, but most of the current assistants at Arkansas will most likely follow coach Nutt to Ole Miss, and if that does indeed happen, Tatum will as well.
