Corey Shields Profile
"I am verbally committed to Western Kentucky," said Corey. "I committed last night."
Shields picked the Hilltoppers over a pair of other offers from the southeast.
"I had offers from Middle Tennessee State and UAB too," said Corey. "I picked Western Kentucky because it's not that far from home. I like the atmosphere there and the coaches showed me a good time when I went up there. They are doing good things in the Sunbelt."
The Shields family was in total agreement with the decision to attend Western Kentucky.
"My Mom was ecstatic and my Dad felt that I made a good choice," said Corey.
The head hunting defensive back will get the chance to get in where he fits in when it comes to his future position.
"They want to use me as a free safety or wide receiver," said Shields. "They are bringing me in as an athlete, but I figure when I get there I will be playing free safety."
Corey says that he may be open to visiting other schools, but that he feels confident in his decision.
"I will take my official visit on December 9th, 10th and 11th," said Shields. "I am still going to take some other visits, but I am going to Western Kentucky for sure."
