Michael Thomas, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound three-star cornerback/wide receiver from Nimitz High School in Houston, Texas, announced his commitment to Stanford today. Northwestern came in No. 2.
"I decided to go to Stanford because I felt very comfortable there with the situation I would be in," Thomas said. "It was close with Northwestern, but my family and I talked about it for about an hour and a half after I got back from my trip and we all thought my heart was with Stanford.
"I loved the coaching staff at Stanford and the atmosphere," he said. "If I graduate from Stanford, it's a whole new world for me. I'll major in political science or history. I want to eventually study law. Both of my parents are attorneys.
"The Stanford coaches knew of my decision as of yesterday. I didn't commit to them on my trip but there were probably indications of what I would do. I told the coaches yesterday.
"The coaches want me as a cornerback and a return specialist," he concluded.
Thomas reports a 3.4 core GPA and a 1450 SAT. He says he has already been academically admitted to Stanford.
