Marshall Officially a Jayhawk

To no ones surprise Texas defensive end D.J. Marshall has decided to officially become a Jayhawk. After de-commiting from Iowa State he has decided that Kansas was his best option.

D.J. Marshall a 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end from Mesquite High in Texas has made it official that he will indeed be a Kansas Jayhawk.

"It was really the fact that I could play early and I just have a great opportunity at Kansas," Marshall said of his decision.

"I just wanted to makes sure that if I was de-committing from a place (Iowa State) that I would make sure that I was going somewhere that was going to be better. I do not think really that there is any better place than Kansas right now."

Marshall has a close friendship with Daymond Patterson who is also going to be joining him in Kansas' 2008 recruiting class.

"I have known Daymond since he was about 11," Marshall said. "My dad and his dad coached our pee wee team and we have had a real close knit relationship ever since. We won the championship when we were in the pee wee league and how ironic would it be if we can win it again together at Kansas."

It seemed like Marshall was set to announce his intentions last Friday, but as an avid recruiting fan he decided that it would be great to give recruiting fans some good news as they check out the message boards on Sunday evening to see how all of the weekend's official visits went.

"I just figured that Sunday would be the best day," Marshall said. "Everybody comes home on Sunday night to check the message board and read the updates. I just wanted to take my time and make sure that I am going to stick with this one (commitment)."
