Jordan Free
"We had an in-home visit with Ole Miss last night," said Jordan's Father, Troy Free. "Coach Cameron came in and said he wanted to get Jordan in for an official visit and we've committed to go on Jan. 18th. Coach Markenson called about 15 minutes after coach Cameron left the house so I guess he liked what he saw in Jordan."
When a coaching change happens like it did at Ole Miss it can have either a positive or negative effect on a kid. In this case it appears that it may have increased the Rebels' chances of landing the offensive lineman from Baton Rouge (La.) Parkview Baptist product.
"Jordan wasn't really interested in Ole Miss when coach Orgeron was there but with Houston Nutt over there now he is taking a hard look at them," Troy said. "We think he's a good coach and he is bringing coach Markenson, who is a real good o-line coach. Ole Miss is a real good school and we're excited about them right now."
This week figures to be a busy week for Jordan and his family with in-home visits as TCU and UL-Monroe are already slated to come in with the Horned Frogs scheduled for Monday evening.
TCU is a school that has come on strong of late and another one that Jordan is keeping a close eye on.
"They want him to visit and they call a lot," Troy said of TCU. "He is supposed to get an offer when he visits and that is another one we are real excited about."
Southern Miss was very high on Jordan's list before Jeff Bower stepped down from the helm and there hasn't been a lot of contact from any coaches in Hattiesburg but that doesn't mean Jordan isn't still on the board.
"The Assistant A.D. from Southern Miss called and said that the new coach will pursue Jordan and he will be one of the guys on their board they will go after," said Troy.
Expect Southern Miss to get one of Jordan's official visits because he feels the Golden Eagles have a lot to offer and with two other official visits in the works it looks like there will only be room for one more trip of the official variety.
"We're going to Tulane for an official in January and he's going to visit TCU for sure," Troy said. "That's what we're looking at right now and then we will decide everything else after we meet with coaches when they come in to visit."
