Adrian Bushell the 5-foot-11, 175-pound three-star athlete (cornerback/wide receiver) from DeSoto, Texas, has narrowed his choices to Oklahoma State, Louisville and Florida, but admits that the Cowboys now have a solid, not just a slight, lead.
"I almost committed during my official visit," Bushell said of his trip to Stillwater on Dec. 7. "There were like seven guys on the visit that committed and I was pretty close.
"It was a great visit and I like what they are doing there," he said. "They are serious about football and are working hard to be a top contender. I like the coaches a lot too and even though they finished 6-6, they lost a lot of close games and it easily could have been 10-2 for them. They just need some playmakers and they'll have a big season."
Bushell's player host in Stillwater was freshman safety Deron Fontenot. "The campus is a really friendly place and I felt at home there. The players are fun and they really made me feel welcome."
This Friday, Dec. 14, Bushell is scheduled to visit Louisville. "I wasn't too impressed with them this season, but I've always liked them and really want to check them out," he said. "I want to see what the campus is like and see how all the players act and how I'd fit in."
Bushell's final visit will be to Florida in January. "They have a great team and I think I'd have an opportunity to come in and play early," he said. "They really have great coaches that I feel I can relate to."
Nebraska was a school that used to be on Bushell's list, but he says the Huskers aren't recruiting him anymore. "They had a rough season," he said. "After the coaching change I didn't really hear from them at all, but that's okay because I'm pretty set on these three. I decided not to commit to Oklahoma State because I wanted to give the other two schools a shot. I want something to compare to Oklahoma State and will make a decision after my Florida visit."
Bushell, ranked as the No. 54 wide receiver in the country by Scout.com, finished his senior season (11-3) with 51 tackles and also rushed for around 500 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had roughly 300 yards receiving.
Bushell reports a 2.9 core GPA and an 820 SAT. He is taking the ACT on Dec. 8.
