'Cuse Coaches Visit LaPorte

Four-star JUCO tight end Dudley LaPorte holds written scholarship offers from Mississippi, Nevada and Utah at this point and is waiting for his transcripts to be reviewed to see what other opportunities may open themselves to him. Last week he was visited in-home by the Syracuse staff, a program that he definitely has interest in if offered.

Dudley LaPorte, a 6-foot-4, 258-pound tight end from Santa Barbara Junior College in California has already taken two official visits and upon his return home for winter break, he plans to make a stop by Syracuse for an unofficial to meet with the coaching staff and see what the Orange bring to the table.

"Head Coach (Greg) Robinson and Coach (Mitch) Browning came out to see me last Monday and talked to me about the program," LaPorte stated. "They said they wanted me to come out and take a look at the school, so I am just going to drive down there when I get home on break as I don't live to far away in Stamford, Conn. I'll make that trip in the next few weeks I guess."

"I liked both of the coaches as they were cool and seemed like pretty good people while we spoke," LaPorte explained. "One thing that would be nice about having an offer to Syracuse is that a lot of my old teammates from Milford Academy play there, so I feel like it would be an easier transition. With all of those people there that I knew I would expect it to feel like home. The program is also very young and on their way up, so I don't necessarily think their record this season reflected how hard they played on the field. Right now they're reviewing my transcripts and will let me know soon."

LaPorte caught 30 passes for 500 yards and four touchdowns this season and plans to make his decision in January or February.
