Walker 50-50 Between Two Sports

Prior to his senior season Edinboro, Pa., product Shawn Walker seemed poised for a wide amount of offers in recruiting, having snagged a West Virginia offer right off the bat, however after being moved to the offensive line this season the interest in him started to dwindle and now he is trying to decide if he even plans on playing football at the collegiate level.
Shawn Walker
, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end from General McLane High School currently holds scholarship offers from
Akron
,
Temple
and
Buffalo
, but isn’t sure which sport he will play in college as he also excels in basketball. This year he “took one for the team” switching positions and it didn’t seem to help his recruiting much.
“I actually played offensive tackle instead of tight end this year to help my team, so coaches didn’t get to see me play the position I’m meant to play,” Walker said. “They have had to go off of my junior film and that has definitely hurt me. I am actually hoping that basketball season will help with football because then coaches can see my athleticism on the court. At this point though, I’m probably 50-50 between the two sports anyway.”
Walker did talk briefly about his offers with us.
“I really liked the campus at Akron and have a great relationship with the coaching staff there,” Walker explained. “They have a very good football team and if I were to go to school for that sport I’d have to say they’re definitely my top choice.”
“I don’t know much about Buffalo and while Temple said they would love to have me I have absolutely no interest in going there.”
Walker was a first-team All-State selection as a junior for basketball and also received accolades on the football field.
