Courtney Campbell favors Washington and Michigan State solidly over San Jose State, Nevada and Fresno State. His cousin is Husky safety Mesphin Forrester (Venice High School in Los Angeles, Calif.). "He's says that Seattle is a cool place and a lot like Los Angeles," Campbell said. "It's a fun area and he really likes it. He also says the fans are great and that the team gets along well..."

Courtney Campbell, the 6-foot-4, 255-pound two-star defensive end from Fairfax Senior High School in Los Angeles, Calif., finished his senior season (8-5) with roughly 80 tackles and nine sacks.

"I have long arms and use my reach well," Campbell said. "I also have pretty good moves and am pretty aggressive, but I still want to work on staying lower. I also want to work on not getting washed up on double teams."

Campbell says he can bench 295 pounds and squat 415 pounds. He says he has a 28-inch vertical jump and runs a 5.0 forty.

He says he has scholarship offers from Washington, Nevada, Minnesota, Fresno State, Michigan State and UNLV, although the only official visit he has set up thus far is to San Jose State on Jan 18.

"And San Jose State hasn't offered a scholarship yet," Campbell said. "They are still reviewing my film, but should offer soon."

"I actually tried calling (Husky running back) coach Trent Miles yesterday, but couldn't reach him," he said. "I want to set up a visit to Washington for Jan. 11. I talked with coach Miles at the beginning of the month and he was just telling me how they really need help on defense and that I could play early. They also said they might try me at offensive tackle or guard."

Although Campbell hopes to visit Michigan State in January as well, he admits that he hasn't been hearing much from the Spartans. "I haven't heard from them in over a month," he said. "They seem like pretty cool coaches though and the team is up-and-coming, but I don't know too much about them."

The team that is recruiting Campbell the hardest is Nevada. "I get mail from them like everyday," he said. "I'll probably decide before Signing Day, but I don't really know when. I still want to take some visits first and see who really wants me."

Despite being born and raised in California, Campbell admits that his favorite team has always been LSU (the Tigers are not recruiting him). "I just used to play video games with LSU and that's how I started liking them," he said. "Even now when I play, I always pick LSU."

He reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 780 SAT, which he plans to retake on Jan. 26.
