Ole Miss placed a total of 5 1st Team
All-State selections by the Clarion Ledger this morning, which is the only
poll that takes in all of the classifications, public and private. They were RB
Darius Barksdale
(named Mr. Football in the state of Mississippi), DE Josh
Tillman, CB Derrick
Herman, LB Marlon Walls, and OL Quinn
Sanford.
There are several more players that made the
1st Team All-State team that the Rebels are hot after in DT Bo
Tillman, WR DeAndre
Brown (Mr. Football Finalist), OL James
Brown, DL Terrance
Pope, CB Alonzo
Lawrence (Mr. Football Finalist), DB Charles
Mitchell, Ath Akeem
Davis, and dBKendrick
Presley.
The next highest total were 2 1st Team All-State selections
by Mississippi State. They were Trevor
Stigers (named Metro Player of the Year) and Jon Paul Alford.
The Bulldogs are also heavily in the mix for a couple of DB's who made
the team in Charles Mitchell and Alonzo Lawrence and have also offered
a greyshirt to Columbus' OL Tobias
Smith.
USM does not currently have any All-State commitments from
the state of Mississippi but look for them to get in the mix with players like
dBKendrick Presley, Ath Timothy
Graham, Ath Akeem Davis, and DL Terrance Pope in the
next several weeks.
The only other school to place a 1st Team All-State
selection was La Tech in QB Bret
Jefcoat..
2nd Team
All-State
MSU placed the most selections
on the 2nd Team All-State squad in LB Antonio
Hoskins, CB Arceto Clark, and dBDelmon
Robinson. The Dogs remain heavily in the mix for DL Andre
Wadley and Ath Rashun
Dixon off of the second team.
Ole Miss placed two commits on
the 2nd Team in DT Willie
Packer and LB Josh Chestang out of Moss Point. The Rebels are
also in the mix with LB Ramon
Blakeney and DL Andre Wadley.
The only other BCS college
to have a representative on the 2nd Team was Auburn in dBDrew
Cole.
