First Two Offers in for Smith

When we spoke with Jared Smith earlier in the season he had nothing but good things to say about Pittsburgh and their coaching staff, but after a recent conversation with the Greencastle, Pa., native it seems there must have been some sort of breach between now and then between the two parties as the lines of communication have shut down.

Jared Smith ended his senior season at Greencastle-Antrim High School with 62 tackles, 10 sacks, three deflections and two forced fumbles and the 6-foot-3, 252-pound defensive tackle recently picked up his first two scholarship offers from New Hampshire and Duquesne. Just over two months ago the lineman was talking heavily to the Pitt Panthers, but apparently that has stopped.

"I had been talking to Pittsburgh a lot and they offered me or were going to offer me from what I was told by my recruiting coordinator, but then they told me I waited too long or something and gave the scholarship to someone else," Smith said. "I was fine with that because I never got a good feel from them to begin with."

"Temple is another school that is talking to me, but I'm not sure about them," Smith explained. "I think I need to take a closer look. Right now I would say that New Hampshire is my leader going forward."

Smith told Scout.com of no time table for a decision.
