Coaching changes across the country have made the recruiting battle more and more competitive by the day. When South Oak Cliff DB Kydarian Wilkins back on the market, several Division I programs have been in contact and request his services. Scout.com brings you the latest in Wilkins’ recruitment.

When South Oak Cliff (TX) defensive back Kydarian Wilkins committed to Baylor back in April, he was set on becoming part of the Bears’ program. But after the coaching changes occurred, Wilkins felt like his primary connection from the school was gone and decided to move on.

Now, since de-committing from Baylor two weeks ago, the 5-foot-9, 168-pound Wilkins has found interest in new places and plans to keep all options open in regards to his recruitment.

“I just de-committed from Baylor two weeks ago, because I was committed to Baylor for so long, many other schools backed off,” Wilkins said. “I have known the DB coach who was there for two years and we were cool. I told him if he wasn’t going to be there then I would de-commit. But there are no hard feelings.”

With that said, Wilkins said he will start to line up his visits when school opens back up. Right now, he holds offers from Kansas, Baylor, Kansas State, and Texas State. He has an official visit set for January 18 with Texas State, but plans for many more.

According to Wilkins, there were many programs that would come by and show interest in him, but saw that he was solid commitment. But no worries, Wilkins felt like he was doing the right thing.

“When coaches would come through and call, they saw I was committed to Baylor and they backed off because they thought there was no chance to get me,” Wilkins said. “And I wasn’t really talking to too many other schools. I was really committed to Baylor. Now that the word has just got out, programs are calling me and coming through the school again.”

And since he has open up recruiting, pair of schools in particular has shown some serious interest.

“I have been hearing from Minnesota and Iowa State too,” Wilkins said. “I got connected with Minnesota because they were recruiting our defensive end Jacquies Smith. They heard I de-committed, so he and I will probably take a trip up there. Then a few days later Iowa State called me and I will give them a look also.”
