Auburn commitment George Baker talks about the departure of Will Muschamp and what it means to him…
Florida DB has a few visits left
"It's been the dead period lately so it's been kinda weird," George Baker said. "I went from talking to coaches all day every day to not talking to them very much because of the holidays." Baker, 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, talked about what he's been doing lately to stay busy. "I've been working out a lot and getting ready for track season," he said. "Recruiting will pick up again here in another week or so. I'll also be playing in the Dade/Broward game in a few weeks." The talented cornerback prospect made an early commitment to Auburn but he's still keeping his options open. "I've been to Auburn and Rutgers so far," he said. "The reason I like Auburn so much is because of my relationship with Coach Gran. I feel real comfortable there and I had one helluva time when I went on my visit. That'll be tough to match." Baker has two more visits lined up with the possibility of taking a third. "I got Central Florida on the 11th and South Florida on the 25th," he said. "That's pretty much it for visits right now. I don't know if I'll schedule a fifth one or not. I'm also talking to Miami." All of the schools on his list, except for the Hurricanes, have offered. Baker talked about the hometown program. "Coach Nix came to my house for a visit a couple weeks ago," he said. "He was saying how he needs to get with Coach Shannon to see what they're gonna do. They're supposed to get back to me after the dead period. That would be great if they offered but Auburn's my leader right now."
