Ohio DB - Curt Lukens

North Canton, Ohio defensive back Curt Lukens is a four-year letter winner and he says he found the perfect fit when he made his verbal commitment to Ohio State.

“Right now I’m playing linebacker but in college I’ll be playing safety. I feel like a safety now to tell you the truth. I’m seven yards off the ball and it’s a lot read and react.”

Lukens says he found the perfect fit for him during the summer.

“When I committed to Ohio State, it was a dream come true. It’s the perfect situation. Close to home, my family can come see me play and I grew up a Buckeye.

“I enjoyed the recruiting process. I still talk to coach (Jay) Paterno at Penn State and coach (Mike) Woodford at Florida. They both know I’m committed to Ohio State but during recruiting you build relationships.”

Lukens, a 6-foot-2, 205-pounder, from North Canton (Ohio) Hoover is one the best prospects in the Midwest and he’s been timed at 4.47 in the 40-yard dash.

As a junior, Lukens had 125 tackles on defense and he had 950 yards receiving from his wide receiver position. Curt will play safety for the Buckeyes.

North Canton is 7-2 and they’ve clinched a league championship and play-off berth. Lukens looks very good on film. A fast, sure tackler, that’s all over the field. He loves to hit and he should fit in just fine in the tough, aggressive Ohio State secondary.
