Patrick Johnson made an early commitment to play for the Miami Hurricanes, but after re-opening his commitment other schools started to seem more and more compelling. He had a terrific time when he took an official visit to LSU and that was one of the main reasons he put on a Tiger cap this afternoon.

Patrick Johnson, the 6-foot-1, 197-pound five-star cornerback from Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Fla., has been committed to Miami since April, but he has been taking a serious look around for awhile.

He took official visits to schools like Florida (Sept. 14), LSU (Oct. 19), Georgia (Nov. 9), North Carolina (Dec. 7) and also went to USC (Dec. 1), but in the end it was the LSU Tigers who got the nod from the country’s number one ranked corner during a live broadcast of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Johnson was easily one of the most highly recruited players all week during the game. The multitude of Ohio State commits even tried to work their magic to try to get him to take a last second peek at what Columbus had to offer.

In the end he just felt the most comfortable with what the LSU Tigers and what their defense brings to the table.

"Les Miles tells the truth," Johnson said with a laugh during the post-game press conference. "Their defense fits my style play. They play a lot of bump and run coverage and blitz their corners."

"Being on the LSU team and following that tradition is going to be a great opportunity for me."

There were reports abound by different media outlets about Johnson selecting the Seminoles, but judging by his reaction to that question any of the other schools were not really an option by the time he arrived in San Antonio.

"(laughing)It is kind of crazy, they always switching things around, but thats the media, thats their job, so I made the announcement," Johnson said.

"Its been over for about three weeks."
