Arizona is recruiting Geordon Hanohano the hardest and his official visit to Tucson on Jan. 18 will be his last. "They were one of the first schools to start recruiting me and they are still recruiting me hard," he said. "That means a lot. They really want me. The program is on the rise and the coaches said that I'd be able to make a quick impact and play early for them. If my trip goes well..."

Geordon Hanohano, the 6-foot-2, 265-pound three-star defensive tackle from St. Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, has a new favorite and now says that Arizona leads solidly over Hawaii and San Diego State.

"I'd like to make a decision by the end of January," Hanohano said. "I want to find a program that has a good depth chart and where I'll be able to play. I also want to go to a school that is winning or at least is on its way up."

The Wildcats are recruiting him the hardest and his visit to Tucson on Jan. 18 will be his last. "They were one of the first schools to start recruiting me and they are still recruiting me hard," he said. "That means a lot. They really want me. The program is on the rise and the coaches said that I'd be able to make a quick impact and play early for them. If my trip goes well, I'll definitely consider committing right there."

In fact, Hanohano says there's a "75 percent chance" that he'll choose Arizona.

On Dec. 8, he visited San Diego State, but now says the Aztecs are a long shot. "It was a fun trip and it's a really nice area," he said. "I really liked San Diego and have never been there before. The problem is they are pretty deep on the defensive line and I'd probably end up waiting on the bench to play."

So what happened with the local Warriors? About two months ago, Hanohano listed Hawaii as a big leader, but now admits he's hasn't been hearing much from the in-state favorite. "They haven't been very consistent with me like Arizona," he said. "They offered me in the summer and then I didn't hear from them for a while. I haven't heard anything from them recently and I've heard rumors that coach June Jones might be leaving, so that would definitely change things.

"I know a lot of people at Hawaii and have friends on the team," he said. "Obviously, it would be great to play at home in front of my friends and family, but right now I'm really looking at Arizona."

Hanohano, ranked as the No. 25 defensive tackle in the country by Scout.com, finished his senior season (11-1) with approximately 40 tackles and over 10 sacks.

He reports a 2.8 core GPA and an 830 SAT - Dec retake unreported.
