Gene Robinson, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound corner from Whitehaven High in Tenn., was one of the few sophomores to make the trip to the Army Combine a year ago, and after a return trip this year he was recognized as an All-Combine performer.
Colleges have already taken notice of Robinson, and he already holds two official offers. It will most likely only be a matter of time before more roll in.
“I am getting a lot of interest from Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee,” Robinson explained. “I already have an offer from Ole Miss and I also have an offer from Memphis.”
“Ole Miss was my first offer and it was great. I got it after summer camp. I called the school after the coaching change and they told me everything was going to be fine as far as my offer is concerned”
Robinson is obviously very interested in playing in the SEC.
“I really like all of the SEC schools. I believe that the SEC is the best conference and it would be the best conference to play in. I am real interested in a school like Vandy because of the academics. I have a 3.9 GPA and I have already scored a 23 on the ACT. I feel I can do good at a school like that.”
“Arkansas is another school that I have been interested in for awhile. Our middle linebacker (Tenarius Wright) is gonna play there and he has told me all of the great things about the program.”
Robinson believes his skills as a one-on-one corner separate himself from some of the other top players at the position.
“I feel I am a true lock down corner,” Robinson stated. “I try to play like DeAngelo Hall for the Atlanta Falcons. He is a play maker.”
