"I got hurt the fourth game. I played one
game with a broken foot. I got a MRI and didn't play until the last four games
of the season," stated Tobias Smith. "We started off 3-1 and finished
the year 6-5."Who was the best team you played all year?
"I
would have to say South Panola or Olive Branch."
Despite suffering
an injury, the talented offensive lineman was no stranger to awards.
"I
was named 1st team All-State. I was also named to the MS/AL All-star game."
How
did the MS/AL All-star game go?
"It went great. We had a great defensive
line. Practice was really difficult. The speed of the game was much quicker."
Did
one defensive lineman stand out?
"Terrance Pope was very difficult
to guard. He had a power spin move that worked every time. He was very fast and
very strong."
It is no secret that the Mississippi players bonded in
Mobile and Smith confirmed that many friendships were made.
"We had
a good time together. I became good friends with Alonzo Lawrence and Ramon Blakeney.
I stay in contact with both of them."
Smith's stock continues to rise
after the MS/AL game and more and more coaches are making contact.
"I
have offers from Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, Arkansas State,
Jackson, State, Alcorn State, and Alabama State. I am also hearing from South Carolina and Florida State."
Who is recruiting you the hardest?
"I
am hearing the most from Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech"
Talk about those three schools.
Mississippi State - "I really like
Coach Croom and the direction he has the program headed in. They are a program
on the rise."
Southern Miss - "They have a new staff and their
head coach has already been in contact with me. I'm exciting about what they are
doing. They have a really good staff. I like Southern Miss a lot."
Louisiana
Tech - "They were the first school to recruit me. They offered me first and
they have been very consistent with me. I like their coaching staff a lot."
Do
you have any visits set up?
"Yes I do. I will visit Arkansas State
1/11, Louisiana Tech 1/18, Mississippi State 1/25, and Southern Miss 2/1.
Does
the talented offensive lineman have anything to say to potential schools?
"Tell
them I will work hard and give 100%. I can't wait to play at the next level."
