Desmond Johnson takes in first official visit

Desmond Johnson (RB, Yazoo City, MS) - The 6' 0", 185 running back has been though a lot this season. Despite a serious injury, offers have continued to pile up. Johnson is now focused on making his college selection and preparing to play football on the next level.

"I've been offered by LSU, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Memphis, Troy, Alabama, and Arkansas," said Desmond Johnson. "LSU is my leader."

Who have you spoken to lately?

"Troy, Southern Miss, Alcorn State, and LSU."

Tell me about those schools and their recruitment.

LSU - "They have great coaches. The win championships, and have great players. They're by far my leader. I am very comfortable with their coaches. I have not spoken with them since right before Christmas break. I'm looking forward to hearing from them again."

Troy - "I really like there coaches. They are recruiting me hard. I have set up a visit for 2/1. I'm looking forward to learning more about their school and their offense."

Southern Miss - "I love Coach Hughes. I was close to him when he was at Ole Miss. I'm working on getting a date set up with them for a visit. I also want to get to know the rest of their staff. They seem to be pretty cool."

Alcorn State - "I am visiting this weekend 1/11" My coach graduated from there. I have heard good things about the school."

Johnson had a shortened season but it didn't stop him from putting up jaw dropping stats.

"I only played in five games. I broke my tibia bone. Through five games I had 1,003 yards and 15 TD. I've recovered from my injury and I'm now running."

How did his teammates fair without him?

"They did well. We made it to the playoffs but lost in the first round to Noxubee County."

How has school been going?

"Really good. I've really been working on pulling up my grades so I can qualify."
