Thomas is a Boilermaker

Tommie Thomas came into the weekend one of the top uncommitted players in the midwest. He came out of it a Boilermaker as the three-star safety took a visit to West Lafayette and decided it was the right time to pull the trigger.

It was one and done for Tommie Thomas. The defensive back from Oak Lawn Richards (IL) went on his first official visit this weekend and decided he didn't need to take any others as he committed to the Boilermakers of Purdue.

"Yeah, it is a done deal," he said, "I didn't know coming in that I was going to commit, it was the visit. I liked everything about it, the academics, coaches, players, and the environment."

The 6'2, 175-lb Thomas had a great junior season, grabbing 10 interceptions. He also was a standout at quarterback throughout his career, but his days under center appear to be done.

"They want me as a defensive back," Thomas reported, "we haven't discussed next year and whether or not I'll redshirt yet."

Thomas had scholarship offers from Kansas State, Akron, Cincinnati, Colorado, Ball State, Indiana and Illinois and said the Hoosiers along with Iowa were among his final choices.

Although there is still some time before Signing Day, Thomas is sure he is done with his recruitment.

"It feels great to be done and I am done, I'm a Boilermaker!"
