Jones Traveling to La. Tech
Zeke Jones "I went to Southeastern last week and this week I'm going to Louisiana Tech," Jones said. "After that, I'm going to Southern and then McNeese. Those are pretty much the four schools I'm down to." Jones (5-11, 235, 4.6) is a two-time all-state selection and was the feature back for Springfield. As a senior, he carried the ball 238 times for 1,525 and 27 touchdowns during the regular season showing that he is more than just a fullback type like some have labeled him. To date, his biggest offer is from Louisiana Tech and he is eager to get up to Ruston this weekend to see what Derek Dooley's program is all about. "Louisiana Tech is one of the top D-I schools in the state and they play some of the best teams out there," he said. "I want to get over there and see what they are all about." While Tech may be the more prestigious offer on his list, Jones has Southeastern sitting at the top for one main reason. "They are going to have me playing halfback and not just listed as a fullback," he said. "That's the big reason because I really want to be the feature back so that's really why I like Southeastern. I also like the program and feel like I could be a big part of what they're trying to do. Everything's good with Southeastern." Some may question why Jones would want to play at a smaller school when he could play in the Western Athletic Conference but he says it's not all just about the glitz and glamour. "I would like to play at a bigger school like that (Tech) but wherever I feel comfortable at is where I'm going to decide to go," he said.
