LB: Miami was a whole new world
"I'm just getting back home now," Gavin Hardin said. "I had a great visit. We saw the campus, which was beautiful. We went to the new stadium, which was great. It's so big. We saw the city, just did a bunch of stuff." Hardin, 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, talked about his favorite part of the trip. "Just being there," he said. "I've always liked Miami and just getting to fly for the first time was a great experience and just being in Miami for the first time was a great experience. The whole visit itself was great." The talented linebacker prospect said there wasn't much to say from a negative standpoint. "There was never a dull moment," he said. "There's always stuff happening and I liked that." Hardin, who was hosted by running back Derron Thomas, enjoyed hanging out with some other recruits. "We were all having a good time together," he said. "The thing is, that's not really enough time to get to know anyone really well. All those guys were cool -- some were committed and the ones who weren't really liked it, just like me." Prior to leaving Miami today, Hardin met with head coach Randy Shannon. "He was great," he said. "He said how he's been wanting to see us and was asking how we liked the school, the city, and stuff. He was real nice." Hardin remains a soft commitment to Ole Miss and he'll take his visit there this weekend before making a final decision. "I go there Friday," he said. "The difference I know now is that Miami is just so much faster. There are so many people, so much to do -- it's like a whole new world. There's always a lot going on. I'll visit Ole Miss this weekend and then sit down with my family and my guardian and choose what's best for me." Hardin, who claims a 2.6 GPA and a 15 ACT score, said he doesn't have any in-home visits scheduled this week.
