Two Visits Left for Byrd?
Fresh off of an official visit to Mississippi State, LaRon Byrd, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound wide receiver from Hahnville High in La., caught up with Scout.com to discuss the latest recruiting news. "The visit went real good," Byrd said. "The dorms were really nice and all of the facilities and the locker rooms were great." "Brandon McRae was my host. He is a really good player and told me a lot about the school." "They are losing a good group of receivers," Byrd continued. "There is a chance to come in there and get some good early playing time, maybe even start as a freshman." Byrd has now taken visits to Tulane, Auburn, and Mississippi State, but he may still have trips to Nebraska and Miami on tap. Each school will have the chance to make a play for his services before he makes a final call, but he seems to have a special place in his heart for the "Canes" a school he has professed in prior articles as his childhood favorite. "I will know if I am visiting Nebraska (next weekend) after I talk with the coach on Monday or Tuesday," Byrd informed. "Coach Pelini is a great coach and I have known him for awhile from when he was at LSU. I just want to see what it is like ao that I can keep all of my options open." "I am real excited about a trip to Miami. They have offered me. We just need to get all of the paperwork figured out while I am out there for the visit." Byrd is not ready to name a leader at this point in the process. (Senior Stats) Finished with 50 catches for over 630 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also picked off three passes from his safety spot.
