Phoenix (AZ) Maryvale CB Mike McCord has informed Scout.com that he received his first offer today. Coach Tom Hauck from the University of Montana called and extended the offer for the Grizzlies this morning. "They offered and wanted to bring me on a trip this weekend, "McCord says, "but I can't because I am playing in the Sonoran Bowl." The Sonoran Bowl pits a team of Arizonaall-stars against a group of all-star from Mexico. McCord says he more than likely will trip on Monday or Tuesday of next week. McCord is excited about the offer stating, "They are always in the top of 1AA. They have no NFL team (in Montana) so they get big crowds." McCord (6-0/180/4.4) puts the Grizzlies at the top of his favorites list and not just because of the offer, "They have shown the most interest and have been in contact the most." Other schools that have expressed interest have been Idaho and Idaho State but neither has offered. McCord played quarterback and cornerback for the Panthers but Montana envisions him as a corner because of his "good feet" according to McCord. On the year he recorded 82 tackles and 2 INTs and was named his region's offensive and two-way player of the year. Check out senior highlights of McCord here. |
