Correa Stays Home

Haku Correa, defensive end/defensive tackle from Damien Memorial High School in Honolulu has committed to play for the University of Hawai'i Sunday. This news was first reported by Doris Sullivan of the PIAA. At 6-foot-1 and 240 pounds, Haku becomes the second Damien Monarch to commit to UH from the class of 2008. Christian Vasconcellos committed during their summer speed and quickness camp.

Haku - Scout.com's No. 5 player regardless of position in the state of Hawai'i - was named 1st Team Division II All-State in the Honolulu Advertiser and 3rd Team All-State in the Honolulu Star Bulletin. He is the son of Lani Correa of Honolulu and brother of former UH Warrior La'anui Correa.

"I felt like the Hawaii coaches believe in me, I trust them and trust that they can take me to the next level," Correa said of his decision. "He made a great decision," added his mother. "(New Hawai'i Head) Coach (Greg) McMackin and Coach Cal (Lee) showed today how much they really wanted him. I'm very proud of Haku's decision."

Correa is the second top defensive lineman to commit to the Warriors this weekend, following Scout.com's No. 4 prospect from Hawai'i, Saint Louis DT Geordon Hanohano.
