Arizona leads slightly and offensive lineman Matthew Hunt visits the Tucson, Ariz., campus on Jan. 25. "I love the warm weather in Arizona and it's not too far away," Hunt said. Matthew Hunt, the 6-foot-2, 312-pound two-star offensive/defensive lineman from Carson, Calif., has narrowed his choices to Arizona (offer), Fresno State (offer), Arizona State and Washington. Utah has also offered. The Wildcats lead slightly and Hunt visits the Tucson, Ariz., campus on Jan. 25. "I love the warm weather in Arizona and it's not too far away," Hunt said. "I'd like to stay close to home. It's also a great football place and I think they'll be an up-and-coming team." He says that Arizona is recruiting him the hardest and that they want him as an offensive guard. The only visit that Hunt has already taken was to Fresno State on Jan. 11. He says the Bulldogs are also recruiting him as an offensive guard. "It was a great trip," he said. "I liked that they talked with me a lot about the school and the academics and not just football. They have great support there and they really made me feel like I fit in there. They weren't trying to pressure me into committing or anything." Hunt will take an official visit to Arizona State on Feb. 2 and hopes to squeeze one in with Washington as well. "I know Arizona State said they are still evaluating my tape," he said. "And Washington is recruiting me hard still. I think they'll end up offering me. They were at my school and I missed them, but I think they would have offered that day. I'm trying to set up a visit with them." His teammate, quarterback Dominique Blackman, is already committed to the Huskies. "It would be great to play with him again in college," he said. "We're good friends." While signing day is just over two weeks away, Hunt says he may delay the process a bit. "I think I probably will wait and not sign on signing day," he said. "Depending on who goes where, I may have more opportunities come up if I wait." Hunt benches 335 pounds and squats 500. "I've got good strength and speed and that's a good combination," he said. "I go all out. "I want to improve my pass blocking and move my feet better." He reports a 3.2 core GPA and a 740 SAT, and is awaiting results from his Dec retake.
