Courtney Campbell now says Washington State is his slight leader over Nevada and Fresno State. I'm working on setting up a visit with Washington State. "I'm supposed to call them today. I'm being recruited by (running back) coach Steve Broussard and he's a good guy. I like how well they take care of their players and how it's like a real family up there..."

Courtney Campbell, the 6-foot-4, 255-pound two-star defensive end from Fairfax Senior High School in Los Angeles, Calif., doesn't plan on signing with the rest of the 2008 recruiting class as he needs to get his SAT score up.

Campbell, who has a 3.0 core GPA, says he only scored a 780 and that a lot of schools have backed off due to his academics. "I'm going to retake the SAT on Jan. 26, so I'm not going to sign on signing day. I need to get my SAT up and hopefully that will get me more interest."

"They said they need me to get my test score up before they can offer me," he said. "I think I need about a 900."

Washington, a former favorite of his, is no longer recruiting Campbell. "The coach that was recruiting me left the school and I'm not hearing from them anymore."

At one point in time, Campbell said he had offers from Washington, Nevada, Minnesota, Fresno State, Michigan State and UNLV, but now admits he's only hearing from Nevada and Fresno State, along with Washington State. He says that Fresno State is recruiting him the hardest.

Campbell is ranked as the No. 135 defensive end in the country by Scout.com.
